The need of cooperative banks in the country cannot be denied, because through these we have been able to take the banking system in the country to the masses, the cooperative sector has been playing a special and important role in the process of socio-economic development of the country. Hence, cooperative societies have been acknowledged as the best agency for agricultural credit, their organizational capacity reaching out to lakhs of farmers and thereby establishing linkages at the grassroots level. Cooperation is a major economic force in developed countries and a powerful business model in developing countries. The problem of conflict of control is the biggest problem before the cooperative banks, to deal with which it is necessary that the RBI and the state government should come together on the same platform and work in a coordinated manner so that cooperative banks can be prepared to contribute to the development of the country.
